Waterloo Chess Academy is excited to offer our Online Beginner Program for Fall 2026. This program is designed for students who are new to chess or have basic knowledge and want to build a strong foundation.

Start Date: Sunday, September 13, 2026
Schedule: Sundays at 3:00 PM
Duration: 12 weeks (12 classes)
Class Length: 1 hour
Format: Live online classes (interactive)
Price: $240 + HST

What Students Will Learn
Throughout the program, students will develop essential chess skills, including:
Understanding how all pieces move and interact
Basic opening principles (development, control of the center, king safety)
Fundamental tactics such as pins, forks, and checkmates
Introduction to simple endgames
How to think during a game and make better decisions
Basic chess notation and game review
How Classes Work
Classes are conducted live online in a small group setting
Students can interact, ask questions, and participate actively
Practice positions and guided play are included in each session
Students will also play online games with other participants to apply what they learn
Homework and optional practice exercises may be provided
